TYPHOON ULYSSES

Typhoon Ulysses (Vamco), the Philippines' 21st tropical cyclone for 2020, hit Luzon hardest from November 11 to 12. The typhoon unleashed powerful winds and torrential rain that killed dozens of people, destroyed thousands of homes, and left swathes of the island region flooded. This typhoon lashed the main island of Luzon, whipping destructive winds and dumping heavy rainfall that caused massive flooding in several areas, including Region II, Cagayan Valley, which was one of the most severely affected in the typhoon. The massive flooding prompted residents to scrabble onto rooftops awaiting rescue. Some used plastic containers and other materials as floaters to evacuate to safety. And these are some of the reasons why we’re trying to learn more about this topic, to get ourselves ready and prepared if there’s another typhoon that’s going to hit or come in the future. This type of typhoon can highly affect our daily lives, because people can be killed, injured, or lost during typhoons. Flooding can cause people to drown, houses to be completely destroyed, property to be swept away, and farms to lose all of their crops to the winds and relentless rains. We must be knowledgeable about this type of typhoon in order to be prepared in the event of an emergency.
